As expected, Iceland offers it's guests opportunities to occupy themselves with various kinds of winter sports. Not only infrastructure for skiing and snow boarding, but glacier tours on 4 x 4 wheel drive mountain trucks and snow sleds. Skiing areas are several around the countries. Here is a website for the ones near Reykjavik, Blafjoll and Skalafell. Unfortunately it is not published in English but on the front page you can see if the areas are open or not, if there are red dots then it is closed, green dots means the area has snow and is open for guests. There is a link to other ski areas in the countryside. Click on the link "Onnur Skidasvaedi" in the top navigation bar of the website, then choose from a list of villages and towns on the left side, click one name and a new page opens where you can find a link to the website of the relevant ski / snow board area.
